Dave Rainwater

The folk music muse captured Dave Rainwater at a young age, whether it was the poetry of Bob Dylan, Burl Ives crooning America’s cherished folk songs, the raw heartfelt fiddling of the Appalachians, or the exciting choral folk singing of the New Christy Minstrels. His journey has taken him through years of experience and along the way receiving a few ‘feathers in his cap’: winning numerous fiddle contests including a blue ribbon at the country’s prestigious annual fiddle convention in Galax, Virginia, receiving a Congressional letter of appreciation for his contribution to western music at the annual Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival and a lifetime achievement award from the annual California Auto Harp Gathering. Dave toured with the legendary folk group, The New Christy Minstrels from 1997 to 2019. These days he entertains in his own show ‘Romancing the Fiddle’ or ‘Catgut Strings & Rattlesnake Tales’, a show with humor, American folklore and classic fiddle tunes which Americans have cherished for generations. A consummate entertainer with his fiddle and mandolin he shares a large repertoire of folk melodies, old-time, jazz, blues, bluegrass and even a touch of classical.
