Les Gustafson-Zook is widely recognized as one of the premier 'harp players around."
- Mike Herr, Autoharp Quarterly, Oct. '92

"This former National Autoharp Champion has an instinct for using the right fills and riffs to appropriately grace each melody -- not to mention having a flair for artful arrangement. His playing is both creative and captivating, with inventive little twists and turns in timing ever holding the listener's attention. The interjection of occasional bouncy, syncopated licks and rhythms further displays his consistent precision and expressiveness."
- Eileen Roys, Autoharp Clearinghouse, Nov. '94

Biography

Les is an entertaining and energetic multi-instrumentalist performer for both children and adults. He performs at festivals and events throughout the United States solo and with his wife, Gwen. He is the 2001 International Autoharp Champion as well as the 1989 National Autoharp Champion. Before moving to Indiana, he taught autoharp for five years at Linn Benton Community College in Corvallis, Oregon. Les will also appear at the Willamette Valley Autoharp Gathering (WVAG) in Florence, Oregon and at the Arizona Autoharp Gathering in Phoenix, Arizona.

Les is a charter staff member of the California Autoharp Gathering, having appeared at initial CAG 2003 and at CAG 2004 in Mendota, California. At these CAG's, Les began a wonderful partnership with Ray Frank. They stayed up one entire night jamming together and then decided to create an album! The resulting "Fingerpicking Pals" CD is a beautiful autoharp/guitar creation of these two musical geniuses. The California Autoharp Gathering is thrilled to welcome back Les to the beautiful St. Nicholas Ranch!
