Ray Frank has been actively making music for more than 50 years. An eclectic musician, his playing is based on an abiding love for traditional music from around the world. Ray grew up in New York City where he studied classic guitar, banjo, mandolin, bass and percussion. He got his first Autoharp (which he still has) while in high school after falling in love with the music of the Carter Family. Now, he performs, records, arranges, produces and teaches music and is in great demand as an accompanist. He also is an instrument maker. Ray's American Old-Time music duo named “Stump Tail Dog” has recently released its second recording. He is also involved in numerous recording projects, concert productions and is on the board of the San Francisco Folk Music's annual Camp Harmony musical gathering. Ray has become a crowd favorite here at the California Autoharp Gathering. We truly welcome his warm and friendly personality, his appreciation for old-time music, and his dynamic guitar playing. This will be Ray’s third visit to our festival. |
